Google Cloud has an AI update for its partners.
The company has announced Google Cloud Partner Network (GCPN), Google’s novel, AI-powered programme for all Google Cloud partners. The network is an the ecosystem of companies designed to help support, build and sell to consumers.
“This update places partners at the centre of accelerating customer transformation with our leading AI-powered cloud, while simplifying how you engage with us,” Christian J. Murray, Partner Program Manager at Google, says on LinkedIn.
Yet to be formally rolled out in the first quarter of 2026, the new programme marks a “fundamental shift in how we measure success and reward value,” says Colleen Kapase, VP of Channels and Partner Programs at Google Cloud.
“We’re making the programme simpler by moving away from tracking the work of traditional programme requirements, such as business plans and customer stories and towards recognising partner contributions – including pre-sales influence, co-innovation and post-sales support.
“Because the programme is designed to put the customer first, we’ve narrowed requirements to focus on partner efforts that deliver real, measurable value.
Citing as an example, Colleen added that: “the program will recognise investments in skills, real-world experience and successful customer outcomes.”
This allows Google Cloud to reward partner contribution across the entire customer lifecycle, thereby rewarding successful co-sell sales efforts, high-quality service delivery and shared innovation with ISVs.

What is Google’s AI-powered Partner Network Hub?
Google recognises that AI can significantly decrease the effort required by its Google Cloud partners to participate in the programme.
As a result, the Partner Network Hub will soon be completely transformed by relying on a host of tools such as the already valiant Earnings Hub and Statement of Work Analyzer.
The advancement chops down the administrative responsibility required by the partner companies by introducing automated tracking across tiering and competency achievements.
Colleen believes this makes the programme simpler and transparent while “allowing more focus on customers instead of routine programme administration”.
With the new programme and portal set to launch in Q1 of 2026, there will be a six-month transition window to allow partners to easily slide into the network.
Google Cloud has also announced a series of webinars and listening sessions to guide partners on the Google Cloud Partner Network.
New tiers and competencies
With a brand new tier system and focus shift to emphasise customer outcomes, GCPN is the successor to the Google Cloud Partner Advantage programme.
Google Cloud Partner Network boasts a new three tier system, with Select, Premier and a new Diamond tier, which Colleen notes is the “highest distinction” and is “intentionally selective”.
Each tier will be determined based on exceptional customer outcomes across Google Cloud and Google Workspace.
The new competency framework also upholds the focus shift to customer outcomes, as they are assessed by a partner’s proven ability to help customers, measuring two key dimensions: capacity and capability.
Capacity includes knowledge and skills development, validated by technical certifications and sales credentials while capability shows real-world success, “measured by pre-sales and post-sales contributions to validated closed/won opportunities”.
“This framework operates independently from tiering to allow partners to earn a competency without any dependency on a program tier,” explains Colleen.
In addition to the baseline competencies, the partners will now have a second level of achievement, an Advanced Competency which reflects a “higher designation”.
These upcoming changes and the six-month transition window provide the final roadmap for firms looking to align their operations with Google’s new outcome-based standards.
